Positions/Plate IV
Inspection
Also called: Display, Examination, presentation, hands behind the head
Standing, fingers laced behind your head, elbows open: accepting being looked at.
How to take it
Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart, knees soft. Raise your hands and lace your fingers behind your head, resting on the back of your skull. Open your elbows out to the sides, which also opens your chest. Your back stays straight, without arching. Your gaze goes straight ahead or rests on the floor, depending on what you have agreed.
What it says
It exposes without protecting: arms raised, you let yourself be looked at and examined in detail, often while the other person walks around you. The other person’s gaze does most of the work. It appears in almost every list of positions, under this name or as Display.
Variants
- Heels together, toes turned out, chin slightly raised, for a more military version.
- Kneeling on a cushion, hands behind your head.
- Hands behind your back instead of behind your head, when your shoulders protest (see /positions/wait/).
