Positions/Plate XI
Ready to Please
Also called: Eager to please, eagerness
Kneeling, knees apart, hands on the floor in front of you, head raised towards the other person: eagerness to do well.
How to take it
Kneel on a cushion, knees spread wide, sitting on your heels or just above them. Lean your upper body forward and place your hands flat on the floor in front of you, between your knees, arms straight. Your back stays long, without sagging. Raise your head and lift your eyes to the other person, on the lookout for the next instruction.
What it says
It is the most active of the kneeling positions: weight forward, hands already on the floor, you are ready to get up or come over at the first sign. It expresses eagerness to do well and reads as impatient waiting, not as rest.
Variants
- Knees hip-width apart, gentler on the groin and the knees.
- Closed fists on the floor rather than flat hands, when your wrists protest.
- Seated on the edge of a chair, upper body leaning forward, forearms on your thighs, eyes raised towards the other person.
The call“At my command.”
