Positions/Plate XX
Floor
Also called: Belly, Prone, Bara, Second obeisance
Lying flat on your belly, arms stretched out in front of you or along your sides: the lowest position.
How to take it
From all fours, slowly lie down on your belly, legs stretched out behind you, side by side or ankles crossed. Stretch your arms out in front of you, palms on the floor, or leave them along your sides. Turn your head to the side, cheek on the floor or on a flat cushion, so you can breathe freely. Your body relaxes against the floor.
What it says
There is nothing lower: you are at the level of the other person’s feet. Depending on the framework, it is a quiet surrender, a wait or a role-played apology. In the Gorean tradition, Bara also crosses the wrists and ankles behind the back, as if to be bound.
Variants
- Hands flat on either side of your head, elbows bent.
- Wrists crossed at the small of your back, ankles crossed, head turned to the side: Bara.
- Lying on your side, curled up, when your belly or your back does not tolerate the position well.
The call“On the floor.”
